Team News: Working Hard and Playing Hard…

Happy June everybody!

As you know from last month’s blog, our advisers Andrew and James went cycling around France to help raise money for the Milton Keynes Rugby Club and the Aspire charity. I am pleased (and surprised) to report there were no injuries, and everything went smoothly. Even though they found it hard work, the team mentality and group spirit got them through the days, and they were able to reward themselves with a few beers and glasses of wine on the way. The last night for James and the family involved a night in a Viking / Game of Thrones style bar, and a party that lasted until the early hours – in the words of Bran, ‘why do you think I came all this way?’

Mel had a long-weekend break in Portugal with her husband, Karl, and also went to Southwold with the family over May half-term. They went crabbing and had a successful crab-catching rate using an unusual form of bait – smokey bacon! They were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed soaking up the sun rays… Mel’s definitely been working that tan!

Jon took his family to Weymouth, and with two young children, they had a wonderful time playing in the sea and building sandcastles (although, when Jon checked the weather app it turned out it was hotter in his hometown, Northampton, that day – typical!)

Navleen is back from finishing her first year at Royal Holloway university, and is working with us for the summer. Towards the end of August, she is off to Longyan in China to teach English for a few weeks and then travelling to Yangshuo to explore. Best of luck Navleen!

After being exhausted from the cycling, Andrew still managed to have a wonderful time at the Stony Classic Car festival last weekend and this also signals the start of Stony Live, a week-long festival of live music and community events in our fantastic coaching town.

Corinne is off to the Isle of Wight festival with her girlfriends next week, and Faith is doing a European city tour. Looking forward to updating you all on those shenanigans next month.

Best wishes, Jess.
